Round Table Beats the February Blues with Over £2,600 Awarded

At their March meeting, Currie, Balerno and District Round Table voted to award a total of £2,650 to for various good causes in the local area – a new record for a single meeting.  The nine causes benefitting ranged from the Currie Youth Club and Currie Kirk Day Centre, to history projects in Balerno and Juniper Green, to Nether Currie Primary School, Currie Rugby Club and a local young Taekwondo athlete’s tournament travel.

Round Table Chairman, Jonathan Gibbs, said: “It’s fantastic that we are able to use the money we have raised through the fireworks, Santa runs and the beer festival to support such a variety of good causes.”

Nether Currie Playground Gets Round Table Award

Brilliant news, thank you very much and for such a prompt decision. Please can you thank everyone on the Round Table for their generous support.

Thank you! We are delighted to receive the kind donation from the Round Table which we look forward to putting towards the development of our school grounds – we are working to make our grounds more interesting places in which to learn and to play, and to make them more environmentally friendly and attractive to birds and minibeasts.

Yours sincerely,

Sheila Nicol and the pupils and staff of Nether Currie Primary School

CBDRT Helps Local Taekwondo Star to Compete for Scotland

Thank you ever so much for your outstanding show of generosity and support for our daughter.

Could you please thank each and every one of your members on our behalf and we will do the same personally when we bring Leah along to meet you one day after she returns from the championships in Belarus.

We are currently in the process of ordering and paying for her Scotland track suit & t-shirts etc so would like to use your donation for this purpose with your approval and you will also be able to see where your funding went when she comes to visit your members.

In this day and age where funding is at a premium especially for a minority sport the CBDRT have become the single biggest financial supporter of our daughter in her quest for sporting success whilst representing her nation.

Our family can not thank you enough for your help.

Round Table Supports Currie Kirk Day Care Centre

I write to thank you for the generous donation of £400, from the Currie, Balerno & District Round Table, that you have awarded to the Currie Kirk Day Care Centre. The donation will be a most welcome addition to our funds and the gesture is much appreciated.

As a Charity we are subsidised for the salary of our Organiser and for the provision of meals but for all other expenditure, we rely heavily on donations from organisations such as yours.

Our service to the frail and elderly ladies and gentlemen of the local area has been operating for close on eighteen years and we hope to continue for some time yet.

We would like to put some of the donation towards providing an outing for our members and perhaps to purchase some indoor games for their participation.

Many thanks again.

Yours sincerely,

Sally.

Mrs. Sally Heron.

Chairperson, Currie Kirk Day Care Centre.

CBDRT Supports Local Horticultural and Industrial Show

Currie Parish Horticultural and Industrial Society are delighted to have the very generous support of the Currie, Balerno and District Round Table for our Show on 30th August 2014 in Balerno High School. This will be the 136th Annual Show. Whilst none of our staging equipment is 136 years old some items desperately need to be replaced and we are now able to do this thanks to the tremendous financial support of CRBDT. The donation will also be used to supply primary school with plants for exhibit at the Annual Show; hopefully this will encourage them to develop a lifelong interest in horticulture.  It is heartening to see funds raised locally being used for events in the area.

Round Table Helps Kick-start Currie Youth Club

A huge thank you to the Round Table for helping open Currie Youth Club again for the kids. The money they have provided will allow us to buy lots of sports equipment for the kids to use and enjoy.

Round Table fun poker night chips in for the good causes

Proving once again that we can combine raising money and having fun, eight Tablers recently took part in a fun poker tournament at our Vice-Chairman’s house.   The main aim was to have a fun social event, and that was certainly achieved, with a few drinks and some entertaining card-playing, but we also decided that the ‘pot’ for the evening should go to the account for charities and good causes.  The evening thus raised a further £60 for the local community and other deserving recipients – every little helps, as they say!
