Currie Curry and Beer Festival 2025 - Thank You!
June 10, 2025 [Events, Beer Festival] #beer festival #curry #community #fundraisingCBDRT would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came, sampled beers, ate delicious curry and danced their socks off during the beer festival. It was an amazing weekend.
We stuck with the amazing Kasbah Curry house in Marchmont again this year and were again treated to really tasty (and spicy) curries. Our selection of beers featured a good few new labels that we hadn't tried before. All coming together to be what was a great party.
Saturday night was a sell out and Friday was also really well attended, meaning that more than 700 people joined in the fun.
There was a change in band line up for this year, we welcomed the Jammy Devils and Blue Soul on Friday and welcomed back Bedlam House Band on Saturday, both nights were supported by the wonderful Standard Grades. All the bands were clear crowd pleasers and had the dance floor packed all weekend, but...
Star of the weekend was the AMAZING North Dogs. A new and welcome addition to our contact list. Their last song on Saturday night ended on the stroke of midnight to chants of "One More Song, One More Song!". They were phenomenal and the perfect way to round up another fantastic Curry and Beer Festival.
The bar was staffed again this year by our friends and regular supporters from Currie Chieftains. We have a great relationship with them and regularly rely on their support for an injection of helpers, this was never more appreciated than on Sunday morning when a band of 20 plus youth players and parents arrived to help with the epic task of clearing up! Having the Currie Community Centre returned to normal before 1.00pm was outstanding. Many hands do, indeed, make light work.
Keeping these events alive for our local community is no small task and behind the scenes there is a small group of people who pull together to make sure we make a success of our events but it is a small group and we would love to be bigger! If you are interested in giving back to your community and would like to come and be part of our merry band, we would absolutely love to hear from you. Everyone over the age of 18 is welcome. Please get in touch on our Facebook page.
Thanks to your support, we have been able to make about £8,000 profit which we will redistribute to local organisations, charities and good causes over the coming year.
